Alcohol and Drug Abuse Resource Directory

The Alcohol and Drug Unit is a comprehensive resource compromised of a group of dedicated professionals that assist Ocean County residents in overcoming substance abuse or chemical dependency problem. The unit encompasses of the County Alcoholism Coordinator, a Substance Abuse Counselor, a Program Monitor and support staff. The County Municipal Alliance program, which is at the forefront of alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) prevention and education efforts, is in county municipalities and functions out of the Alcohol and Drug Unit. The Intoxicated Driving Program for the county also housed at the Ocean County Health Department.

The Alcohol and Drug Unit at the Ocean County Health Department contracts with Substance Abuse agencies in the local community to provide services to Ocean County residents.  The Alcohol and Drug Unit provides services on a continuum of care ranging from detoxification and inpatient to outpatient services. 

Additionally, the Alcohol and Drug Unit contracts for prevention/education each year. 

The Local Advisory Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (LACADA) meets the 4^th Tuesday of every month at 4 pm in the boardroom, this is an open public meeting.  LACADA is comprised of Freeholder appointed representatives that assess substance abuse in Ocean County.  The County Alliance Steering Subcommittee (CASS) also meeting every 4^th Tuesday at 3 pm in the boardroom, this is an open public meeting.

Children Impacted by Substance Abuse (CIBSA) - The goal of CIBSA is to raise awareness for the youth of Ocean County who are affected by substance abuse, to empower people to identify children and youth in need of help, and to locate and advocate for  local resources.  Click HERE for CIBSA Sping Newsletter.

Older Adult LACADA -Older Adult LACADA AD-HOC Subcommittee is a group of dedicated professionals, residents and providers whose goal is to provide information to the Ocean County older adult population on alcohol, drugs, tobacco, gambling and other issues to promote their overall health and well-being. 

 CIBSA and Older Adult meetings will be held at our Lakewood Boardroom, 1771 Madison Avenue in Lakewood, NJ.
