Health Education
Administration is also responsible for the dissemination of public information and fostering public relations. Health Educator-Field Representatives work with the Health Educator to coordinate a wide array of community activities. Health Educators coordinate outreach and public information services as well as dedicate attention to health education activities. Every year there are numerous community awareness activities offered to the public including presentations, health fairs, satellite teleconferences, and the distribution of literature.
Public information and public relations are two converging disciplines, which enable the Health Educators to build strong ties with the public resulting in successful outreach. Educational sessions are provided to the general public, school classes, and any groups requesting a presentation. The combined efforts of the educators have fostered communications between the Ocean County Health Department and local Boards of Health. Working with county hospitals, agencies, and consortiums enables the Health Department to better pinpoint areas of need and to address them in a collaborative manner.
