On Wednesday, March 22, 2023 the Ocean County Board of Health acknowledged Ocean County Health Department employees who assisted in its administering of COVID-19 and flu vaccines – and who took part in a special project that we are celebrating for National Public Health Week (NPHW).

The group created 2 very original and unique posters made of all bottlecaps (spearhead by nurse Lisa Loewenstein) to commemorate significant landmark moments during the pandemic. The team was busy throughout the entire county at special event clinics, numerous point of dispensing (POD) operations, and our main OCHD office clinics including the special homebound vaccine clinic services program.

A plaque was also displayed recognizing the entire health department staff that worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic years.

The public health community celebrates NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK April 3-9 with a variety of community events, outreach and awareness campaigns, employee appreciation and much more!

The theme this year is “Centering and Celebrating Cultures in Health”. Feeling like we belong, being a part of our communities and fostering cultural connections supports our health and the quality of our lives. As we celebrate the 28th NPHW, April 3-9, we want everyone to know they can make their communities healthier, safer and stronger when we support and stay engaged with one another.

Feeling included within our community and having support are imperative to our mental and physical well-being. This #NPHW, center and celebrate the many connections of culture, community and public health.
