Body Art Inspections are performed on an annual basis and include facilities that perform at least one of the following: tattoos, ear piercing, body piercing and permanent cosmetics.  This agency issues a license  (for a fee) on an annual basis and must meet specific requirements prior to issuance of the license.  Compliance with procedures, sterilization of equipment, insurance requirements, facility cleanliness and employee health are emphasized.  Facilities are rated as either satisfactory or unsatisfactory as compliance with the code dictates.  The Body Art State Code is found at NJAC 8:27.
